Obasanjo wants Peter Obi to win 2023 election – Deji Adeyanju

Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has claimed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is a supporter of Peter Obi for the Presidency in 2023.

Adeyanju who is a staunch critic of Obi in a tweet said the former president is just trying to be diplomatic in his choice of candidacy for the election.

“Itā€™s Obi ooo. Baba is the one calling foreign people to help Obi and even some PDP stakeholders. Baba is just trying to be diplomatic,” he tweeted.

Obi is currently in Canada, engaging Nigeria residents ahead of the polls.

Obasanjo had at Minna, Niger state where he went to visit former Head of State, retired Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, said he has no special candidate in the upcoming elections.

ā€œI donā€™t have a special candidate, as far as the 2023 presidential election is concerned.

ā€œI have come to see my brother who was a bit indisposed and when he was abroad I had wanted to visit him, and the day I arrived in London to visit him was the day he left.

ā€œSo, I said, ā€˜well, since I could not see him in London, I will come to see him in Nigeriaā€™. And so, that is what I have come to do.

ā€œHe is special in a way and he was indisposed, so I had to come and see him,” he told newsmen.

Obasanjo had also visited another former military head of state, retired Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, who he held a closed-door meeting with.

Deji Adeyanju in support Igbo presidency

Despite being a critic of Obi, Adeyanju says he has always been in support of Igbo presidency. The region is pone of the part marginalised in this regard.

“I have always supported Igbo Presidency and will continue to do so while still speaking truth to every side. If I had one wish right now, it will be for Atiku to step down for Obi but it ainā€™t ever going to happen and Peter will come distant 3rd because of the very complicated.

“Nigeria political dynamics. Those who think insults will make Obi to win in February should continue. We will all compare notes after the polls. Also, if the opposition like, they should head to the polls divided,” he tweeted.

He also pointed that some of those agitating for Biafra Republic seemed to be supporting Obi in his quest for the number one seat.

It was gathered that Emma Powerful, the Public Relations Officer of the agitation group was one of the attendees in Germany where Obi engaged Nigerians living there.

He is therefore urging them not to change their belief in Nigerian once more.

“When we genuinely observe that almost all our Biafran friends on social media are now supporting a particular candidate, we are not trying to link him to IPOB but commending him for making them believe in Nigeria once again and especially the electoral process.

“These are people that I have seen demanding for Biafra for 4yrs but all of a sudden, they are no longer even demanding for Kanuā€™s release. Iā€™m happy about their new interest in Nigeria & the electoral process. No matter the outcome in February, they shouldnā€™t change the song. “
