Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped one place from 31 to 32 in the September FIFA men’s rankings.
Ranked 31st in the world in the ranking released in August, the Super Eagles dropped six points to 32nd.
The drop in the rankings was largely due to the Super Eagles’ 2-1 away defeat to Algeria in their international friendly played in September.
Nigeria was beaten by the Desert Foxes in a friendly encounter at the Miloud Hadefi Olympic Complex, Oran, in September. It was the three-time African champions’ only game in the month under review.
However, Jose Peseiro’s tutored side remains the fourth-ranked team in Africa. Senegal remained first on the continent and 18th in the world. The Teranga Lions are colsely followed by Morocco in second place. The Atlas Lions also moved one place up in the world rankings to 22nd.

Belgium are second, while Argentina occupy third position. France and England maintained their positions, ranking fourth and fifth respectively. Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Portugal, and Denmark complete the top 10.
It is important to note that football fans across the football-loving nation, Nigeria, have been displeased with coach Jose Peseiro’s reign as the head coach of the Super Eagles so far.
Ever since Nigeria failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup coming up later this year, the outcome of matches Peseiro has overseen since taking over from Austine Eguavoen have been largely unimpressive.
The most notable achievement of coach Peseiro so far is the 10-1 demolition of minnows Sao Time & Principe.
