Rising in Africa continent business, Emefiele woos foreign investor

CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele

As businesses in the African continent rise, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele has called on foreign investors to consider the country and other countries in Africa as their preferred investment destination.

Emefiele made the call during the EuroKnowledge award conferred on him by FIN Banking on Emerging Markets Forum on the sidelines of the ongoing International Monetary Fund/World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington.

The CBN governor listed Nigeria, Angola, South Africa and Egypt as the countries in Africa investors should consider.

He said Nigeria, Angola, South Africa and Egypt are economies that investors would need to think about, noting that the economies hold a lot of strong opportunities with opportunities for high yields and profitable projects.

Emefiele further seized this opportunity to encourage the country’s friends in the foreign investment community to continue to take a look at Africa as the continent yearns for growth and development.

He let out that the continent cannot develop on its own alone, hence the need to continue calling for the need and support of the rest of the world.

However, he assured the investors that all the needed opportunities are embedded in Africa and urged them to work for Africa’s growth, not individual countries.

Emefiele, who said the whole talk is about the frontier market, advised people and investors to continue thinking about growth opportunities in the world and the big economies in Africa.
