The Super Falcons of Nigeria will face joint-hosts Australia, Canada and Republic of Ireland in Group B of the 9th FIFA Women’s World Cup finals happening next year, NRTC reports.
This was revealed during the draw ceremony held in Auckland on Saturday. Nigeria will play Canada in her first match of the tournament which is also co-hosted by New Zealand.
A total of 32 teams – the biggest in the history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since its launch in China in 1991 – will compete for the top prize. New Zealand will play Norway, Philippines and Switzerland in Group A.
Nigeria, USA, Norway, Brazil, Germany, Sweden and Japan are the only seven countries to have appeared in all previous editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, between China 1991 and France 2019.

Randy Waldrum’s charges had camped in Canada six months ago, where they played two matches against Olympic champions Canada. The team narrowly lost one of the matches while drawing the other.
The Super Falcons qualified for next year’s World Cup after finishing fourth in this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The four semifinalists at the WAFCON all qualified for the World Cup.
