Afrobeats songstress Tiwatope Savage-Balogun, popularly known as Tiwa Savage, has disclosed she is making her acting debut as the lead cast in a new movie.
The singer is also making her co-directing debut in the movie titled ‘Water and Garri’.
Tiwa Savage made this known via her Instagram page sharing some pictures of herself on set on Wednesday.

Tiwa Savage wrote, āThis is about to be an ICONIC moment. My first lead role as an actor and Executive producer. Directed by the GOAT @mejialabi. Water And Garri the Film Coming soon.”
The Number 1 African Bad Gyal is playing the role of a fashion designer with a budding career in the United States who returns to her home in Africa to confront the guilt she left behind.
She co-directed the movie alongside Meji Alabi, starring Jemima Osunde, Mike Afolarin, and Andrew Bunting.

Tiwa Savage said the project was a complete labor of love that has been her dream for several years.
She added that performing as Aisha allowed her to be totally vulnerable and pushed to express herself in a way that she has never done before.
Tiwa Savage further stated that, āIt was an honor to share my debut as an actress in a leading role with Meji whilst filming on the African continent with a cast and crew I have immense admiration and respect for, I was excited for the world to see the film.ā
According to waterandgarrifilm, “Water and Garri tells the story of Aisha (Savage), an ambitious fashion designer. Now with a budding career in the U.S., she returns to her native home after 10 years away following a family bereavement.
“At home, things have changed. Violence has escalated and tensions have been high. As she reconnects with family, old friends, and her past love, she must learn to live with her scars and confront the guilt she left behind.”
