Esther Okoronkwo scored for the Super Falcons against Costa Rica as Nigeria recorded her first win after three games at the Revelations Cup.
Coach Randy Waldrum’s ladies stood firm to complete the match unscathed at the tournament in Mexico.
The win also proved to be Nigeria’s first in eight games, having lost seven consecutive matches.

Nigeria had lost her first two games against Mexico and Colombia, recording 1-0 losses in both encounters.
Waldrum rang few changes in his team as he brought in fresh players for the match. Esther Balogun replaced Chiamaka Nnadozie while Jennifer Echegini and goalscorer Okoronkwo also claimed starting berths.
Coincidentally, both Echegini and Okoronkwo combined for the only goal of the match.
Echegini made good movement on the edge of the box, beating her marker before crossing for Okoronkwo who had all the time to control and fire into the net.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have been largely disappointed by the performance of Waldrum and have called for his sack several times in the past weeks and months.
