Matsirga Waterfalls
Matsirga Waterfalls is located at Batadon, a small settlement in Madakiya Ward, Jema’a Local Government area of Kaduna State in Northern Nigeria.
Kabyek Tityong is the name of the falls in the local dialect. It directly translates to ‘River Beautiful’ in English and this is how the natives fondly refer to it.
The enchanting waterfalls is a few metres away from the Kafanchan-Madakiya-Zonkwa-Kaduna highway. Visitors can see parts of the water and hear its melodious sounds from the road.
Matsirga Waterfalls has its source from the springs on Kagoro Hills. It cascades from four different hollows of about 25 metres rock cliff to form a shallow cave with a large pool at its bottom

The crystal clear water flows gracefully. At the point of impact with the river, the showers regularly create a mist of rainbow colours.
The cave at the base forms a natural resting place and is suitable for picnicking. It provides ample shade for visitors and tourists amidst the wondrous beauty of the waterfall.

The resulting breeze is particularly refreshing and is in contrast to the famously scorching Nigerian sun.
A private investor is developing Madakiya Heritage Resort and will provide a much needed service to tourists.

The neighbouring town of Madakiya is home to the Awatsung Waterfalls. Madakiya is close to the old railway town of Kafanchan – the commercial hub of Southern Kaduna.
The colourful annual Kagoro Afan Festival takes place in January and the world famous Nok Art collection is also within a reasonable distance.
