The Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari, for signing into law the bill establishing Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
In a letter addressed to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), the monarch expressed gratitude and excitement, saying the presence of a medical university will strengthen his domain as a citadel of excellence, sequel to the Egbas acclaimed penchant for education for centuries.
It reads: āMr. President, your gesture underscores your love for humanity, especially to Egba people. Assuredly, your name shall be immortalised in the kingdomās Hall of Fame as a harbinger of education and capacity development.”

Recall that the bill for establishment of University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, was introduced in 2018 to the Senate by senator representing Ogun Central and Chairman of Senate Committee on Health, Dr. Lanre Tejuoso. It passed the first and second reading on the floor of the Senate.
His successor, Senator lbikunle Amosun adopted and concluded the process. Tejuoso hailed the President, Gbadebo and Amosun for the achievement, adding he was grateful to God their efforts yielded result.
