Veteran actor, Kunle Afolayan, has expressed his excitement as ‘Anikulapo’ garnered five awards at the just concluded Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Anikulapo was nominated for sixteen categories but won five which are; Best Indigenous Language (Yoruba), Best Overall Movie, Best Sound Editor (movie/TV series), Best Writer (Movie/TV series), and Best Soundtrack (movie/TV series).
The 48-year-old movie director and producer shared pictures from the event and the five awards on his Instagram page on Monday.

Afolayan, widely credited for elevating the quality of Nollywood movies through larger budgets, appreciated God, his families, colleagues and friends for their support.

The movie, Anikulapo tells the story of Saro, who was seeking greener pastures, but encounters his untimely death and with Akala [a mystical bird believed to give and take life] after his affair with the king’s wife.
The 9th edition of the annual accolade award presented by MultiChoice in recognition of outstanding achievement in television and film took place on May 20, 2023, at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
