The Internet went buzzing after the AMVCA 2023, the prestigious Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, captivated audiences around the continent and beyond with its glitz, glamour, and celebration of African cinema.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that after the red carpet rolled out and the ceremony unfolded, fans and celebrities alike took to social media to share their thoughts and comments on the star-studded event. One of the highlights of AMVCA 2023 was the incredible fashion choices made by the celebrities starting from elegant gowns to dapper suits among others.

Celebrities who won awards or were nominated expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the recognition on their social media platforms, thanking their fans, colleagues, and the AMVCA committee for the honor, with many emphasizing the importance of African storytelling and the power of film in promoting cultural diversity and unity.

Despite creating a vibrant and engaging space for fans and celebrities to connect and celebrate, netizens blasted some of the attendees as well as hailed some of the winners for the great work done to promote Africa.

Blowing hot on the former BBnaija star, Anita Natacha Akide better known as Tacha or Symply Tacha, netizens berated her to have wore #9.2 million to the award despite not being nominated for any category.

They said the Instagram influencer could have shared the money among hungry Nigerians instead of spending it on transparent cloth.

The reality TV star disclosed she got her dress at the sum of $20,000.00, stating that no one came near, NRTC WEEKLY gathered.

“Tacha was not nominated but wore a million dress to be clapping for winners — still claiming no one came near. Wasted effort and more,” they added.

NRTC WEEKLY found out that why some were attacking the influencer, some were throwing their support for her saying ‘If you work for your money, you will enjoy it because she [Tacha] had worked before enjoying it.’

Moreover, some netizens and fans of Nigeria movie director, Kunle Afolayan, applauded him for sweeping five awards out of sixteen his movie ‘Anikulapo’ was nominated for.

They highlighted the dedication and hard work put into each performance, recognizing the immense skill and creativity displayed in all his production.

“He resembles his father with all these awards. He truly shows the son of who he is.”

Politics: Sai Baba to say bye as Emilokan resumes

Preparation is ongoing for the new President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima to resume office on May 29.

In preparation for the inauguration, some artists have commenced a concert at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Also, the outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari [Sai Baba] conferred Nigeria’s highest national honour, GCFR on Tinubu, and the second highest national honour, GCON, Shettima.

Buhari as well handed over the Transition of Documents to the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Buhari said he was confident that Nigeria was in capable hands, saying he had run a good race and finished the fight and it was now Tinubu’s turn.

Tinubu in his speech vowed to consult the outgoing president from time to time on important issues.

Before the transition of power and honour, the United States President, Joe Biden made public the names of delegates that will attend the swearing-in of the former Lagos State Governor at the Eagle Square, Abuja, on Monday.

Expressing their readiness for the new government, Nigerians urged Tinubu, known as Emilokan to improve on aspects where the outgoing president failed.

“Sai Baba will say bye bye in a few days — Emilokan will be resuming, all we want is better government.

“We are not concerned with all these ceremonies all we need is swear-in and commencement of action by the incoming administration.”

NRTC WEEKLY found out that the hope is high that Emilokan will make changes Sai Baba can’t make during his right year in office.

Similarly, NRTC WEEKLY gathered that some groups are confident God will grant Emilokan the wisdom and will to drive Nigeria toward peaceful coexistence and prosperity in all ramifications.

EPL top four [4] sealed, Liverpool to Europa League

If you are not a football lover or watched English soccer, you could certainly not understand why on Earth people would care about finishing in the top four in the Premier League.

To cleared the doubt, in the Premier League, EPL, the top four teams compete, during the following season, called the UEFA Champions League to shoot for the Trophy.

This year, the fight for teams to play UCL next season experienced a new turnaround as all EPL teams aspired but just four made it at the end.

Since Manchester City won the League with Arsenal in second place, the race for the top four looks to be almost tight among Newcastle, Manchester United, and Liverpool after 36 games.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Liverpool was dropped to Europa after Manchester United’s 4:1 win over Chelsea, making it the first time the club will play Europa under manager Jurgen Klopp.

However, social media went agog as Manchester United fans mocked Liverpool after considering their effort to finish fourth as a waste.

“So what’s the deal with the top four? after their coach had boasted of beating us 7:0 as an achievement, yet the achievement couldn’t book a spot for them.

“They should be at the bottom, so they’ll not qualify for anything like Chelsea.

Reacting, LFC fans maintained that if Manchester United could play the league this season, they see no reason for the club not to. “It’s only defeat we defeat them and it’s normal in the game of soccer.”
