NPFL Super Six Playoffs: Bendel Insurance remain unbeaten; Enyimba, Remo Stars draw

Bendel Insurance have extended their unbeaten run in this season’s Nigeria Premier Football League to 19 games following a goalless draw against Lobi Stars in the NPFL Super Six playoffs on Saturday.

With enough opportunities at both ends, both teams failed to find the back of the net due to their profligacy in front of goal.

The NPFL Super Six playoffs commenced on Saturday after the regular season ended weeks ago. The Bendel Insurance-Lobi Stars match was played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

Having set a new record for the longest unbeaten run in the Nigerian top-flight, the Benin Arsenal have impressed everyone in their first season in the NPFL after years in the wilderness.

Of the three NPFL Super Six playoffs played on Saturday, the match was the only game that did not produce a single goal.

In the first game of the day, Enyimba and Remo Stars battled to a 2-2 draw. In another match played on the day, Rivers United narrowly defeated Sunshine Stars of Akure 1-0 in their NPFL Super Six playoffs encounter.

Bendel Insurance’s next match is against Sunshine Stars on Tuesday. Lobi Stars will also trade tackles with eight-time champions Enyimba on the same day.
