Wizkid’s Smile Makes Summer Playlist of Obama

Music is the soul of life. It rejuvenates our spirit and gives our thinking faculty a well-deserved break. The expression of music eases the stress from our bodies and prepares us for new tasks. Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid is a music icon who has serenaded his fans with songs for over ten years in the industry. His latest song, SMILE featuring American musician H.E.R has gotten the recognition of former president of the United States, Barack Obama.

Usually, the first black president of the United States releases his summer playlist yearly. Consecutively, Nigerian musicians have made it on his summer playlist. It will be recalled that Mavins Records Rema made it to the 2019 summer playlist with ā€˜ā€™Dumebi.ā€™ā€™ However, it is the turn of Wizkid to shine this year.

Smile was released on the musicianā€™s birthday as a gift to his fans. It was his first song in 2020 in the much-awaited album, Made in Lagos. Smile talks about the love the 30-year-old singer has for his lady.

It was colored in reggae with a brilliant feature from Grammy Awards winning HER. Hence, Wizkid FC praised the dynamic nature of their star in making good songs to their delight.

Wizkid and the Zeal to be Better than Himself

The Star Boy himself gained prominence when he released Holla at Your Boy in 2009 under EME records. Born as Ayodeji Balogun on July 16, 1990, in Ojuelegba, Lagos, Wizkid has proven that nothing can limit you if you are determined to scale through heights. His song, Ojuelegba tells of his struggles and how far he has come in life.

Behind every successful man, some persons say, is a woman. However valid or invalid that statement may seem, we cannot deny the fact that Mr. Obama had, and still has a valid support system in Mrs. Obama. Together with the support of Michelle, and their two daughters, Malia and Sasha, he completed his two terms in office.

The summer playlist had 53 songs on it. Besides, it had many notable artists on it too. The songs which featured Burna Boy, Davido and Tems also made it to the playlist. Chika, Nigerian-American musician also made it to the list. Grammy Award-winning songstress Beyonce was not left out. The other artists include Bob Marley, Nas, J.Cole, Rihanna, among others.

This summer playlist shows that Nigerians put in great effort in creating good music and their efforts are duly recognized.
