Ex-Manchester City player Benjamin Mendy has returned to training days after being acquitted of all rape charges labelled against him.
The French defender had been off the pitch after he was accused of attempting to rape a 29-year-old woman as she showered at his home in October 2018.
However, following a number of trials, Mendy was discharged and acquitted on Friday, July 14, 2023. He was cleared of all charges by a jury, including the allegation that he raped a 24-year-old woman in his bedroom at his mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire, two years after the first.
Just days after, the 29-year-old was seen on Monday training with some local footballers on a pitch in Manchester.
Mendy reportedly went to the Pitts complex in Ardwick, Manchester, for a local football game with some strangers.
āMendy turned up and asked some lads if he could join in,ā The Sun quoted an onlooker saying as they couldnāt believe it.
āHe had a laugh and enjoyed himself and was happy to shake everyoneās hand at the end and sign autographs.”
Mendy is presently a free agent. He last featured for reigning Premier League and Champions League winners Manchester City.
Meanwhile, there is a strong chance that Mendy will soon sign with a club. He is reportedly eager to return to football action.
