France defender Benjamin Mendy has penned a two-year deal with French Ligue 1 club Lorient.
The French club confirmed the capture of Mendy on Wednesday via their Twitter handle.
The 29-year-old was found not guilty of rape and attempted rape by a jury at Chester Crown Court last Friday.
Earlier in the year the defender had been found not guilty of sexual offences against a number of women. However, the jury were unable to reach verdicts on the two charges and there was a retrial.
Mendy became the Premier League’s most expensive defender when City paid Ā£52m to Monaco for him in 2017.
He went on to win three titles with City and was part of France’s World Cup-winning squad in 2018.
The left-back was released by City when his contract expired at the end of June. He last played for the Cityzens in August 2021.
