Bedtime Stories: Letter to an ugly girl

Letter to an ugly girl

On today’s episode of Bedtime stories, we will be writing a letter to an ‘ugly’ girl. The girl who hides her face from the world due to the cruel words she has heard over the years.

This episode of Bedtime Stories is dedicated to those who feel left behind; the individuals who have been described as social inept, those who think they are not enough due to the perception and standards of the ‘real world’.

It is time for every young woman to feel comfortable in her own skin and embrace her flaws. Though the world is an ugly place, you best believe your glow enthralls the darkest part of the world.

Dear Madam,

All protocol duly observed, I hereby write you this letter to remind you that every woman is wonderfully and beautifully made. There is no ugliness in you the moment you realize that the treasure loaded inside your skin is more than sufficient.

You feel ugly because people have drenched you with their words, the only time you get noticed is when youā€™re insulted and dissed by other girls or laughed at by the big boys. Donā€™t worry honey; it is time for you to pick up yourself, look into the mirror stare at your imperfect reflection and commence work on building your self-image.

First, forgive yourself for looking ā€œugly,ā€ trust me nobody wants to be ugly, therefore accept yourself otherwise nobody will.

Eat good food and live a healthy life, subconsciously your skin would become fresh and toned, gradually glimpse of beauty would begin to set in.

Observe those classy ladies, they donā€™t try hard to get attention neither should you because if people should notice your struggle, theyā€™ll tend to use it against you and there is tendency youā€™ll relapse into your negative ugly zone.

Everything in life is a state of mind, most times people perceive you according to the aroma you have sprayed upon yourself, and therefore you need to arise.

Arise honey; itā€™s time to know yourself and your worth.

Donā€™t allow every dick, tom and harry to bring you down, study books and journals, itā€™ll help trigger some element of confidence from within.

Go through fashion magazines and women columns youā€™ll learn what it truly entails to be beautiful, studying also makes you to think about how you can improve yourself in terms of academics and business. Just in case you donā€™t know, no knowledge is ever lost.

Lastly, donā€™t let the celebrities you see on television deceive you that they are without blemish, most of them live on makeup kit, they are nothing but mannequins, they package themselves like Barbie dolls trying to manipulate our brain but all na wash.

My advice to you is to package yourself like a queen, own your space and identity. Since nature denied you a cute face, cheat nature with your makeup layout and an adorable sense of style.

Donā€™t over-do the makeup anyways otherwise youā€™ll look like a tramp and seem desperate for attention, just keep it cool honey, use the perfume, body spray, wear that suave outfit and never forget to use a lip-gloss, it always keep your lips moist and ready.

Just be yourself and have a good character towards life, definitely the people who love you would get attracted to you with time. Cheers on your journey to being beautiful.

Yours faithfully,

Bedtime Stories.
