Asake explains why his mum’s name serves as his pseudonym

Nigerian recording artiste, Ololade Ahmed has explained why he preferred his mother’s name, ‘Asake‘ to serve as his on stage pseudonym.

The singer-songwriter who is otherwise known as Mr Money has been described as one of the bestselling Nigerian musicians since he made his mainstream debut in 2022.

ā€œMy stage name is actually my motherā€™s. While I was in the cultural group, people used to call me ā€˜omo Asake,ā€™ which means child of Asake in Yoruba. And after a while, it just stuck. People stopped adding the ā€˜omoā€™ and left ā€˜Asake.ā€™ I thought it was cool and decided to go by it,ā€ he said.
