Asake: Here is why Mr Money chose music over dance

Since his mainstream debut in 2022, Nigerian recording artiste, Ololade Ahmed who is better known as Asake or Mr Money has continued to prove himself as one of the most fascinating exports to emerge from Nigeria.

The singer-songwriter who used to be a dancer has explained why he chose to pursue a career in music over dancing.

Asake in his recent interview clarified that he opted for a music career as he was uncertain if dancing would yield the financial success he desired.

“The reason I left dance is for my love for money. I want to be very honest. Dance is something that I love. But I’m not sure dance can give me the kind of money I want.

“Even if you want to make it so gangster-like and there are so many people bumping, you still need to use the dancers. So, as they work together, I think for the love of money, I’d rather be singing,” he said.

When asked if he would pursue dancing if it brought significant success, the singer responded: “No, I would join music and dance together so I will have more money.”

The Nigerian recording artiste has released two studio albums. In 2022, Asake released his debut studio album, Mr Money With The Vibes which went on to become one of the most popular music projects for the year.

In 2023, he released his sophomore album, Work of Art. He is signed to Olamide’s record label, Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL)
