Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has been handed a seven-month ban by the Italian football federation for breaching betting rules.
The 22-year-old was given a 12-month ban, with five months suspended, and fined 12,500 euros.
The player will also be mandated to undergo therapy for his gambling problem.

He is said to have broken rules about placing bets on football events organised by the FA, UEFA and FIFA.
His punishment comes after eyebrows were raised concerning Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali and midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.
Both players left Italy’s training camp on 12 October after being told to have been involved in an investigation by Italian prosecutors.
The FIGC did not specify what the investigation was. However, Italian news agency Ansa reported it was related to an illegal betting probe.
Fagioli to seek help
Part of Fagioli’s agreement with the FIGC about his punishment will see him speak of his experiences.
These experiences will be at least 10 sessions with amateur sporting organisations and with groups helping gambling addicts.
Serie A side Juventus are now entangled in a midfield crisis. Fagioli’s ban comes after France midfielder Paul Pogba was provisionally suspended after failing a drugs test.
Fagioli made his first team bow for Old Lady in 2021. He later went on loan to Cremonese during the 2021-22 season, helping the club gain promotion to Serie A.

He then returned to Juve and has so far made six appearances this season, registering one assist.
