Tinubu says 2024 Budget themed ‘’Budget of Renewed Hope’ seeks to achieve job-rich economic growth

President Bola Tinubu has revealed that the 2024 Budget, titled ‘’Budget of Renewed Hope’ aims to stimulate job-rich economic growth, foster a better investment environment, enhance human capital development, alleviate poverty, and expand access to social security.

In his presentation of the budget to the joint session of the 10th National Assembly on Wednesday, President Tinubu emphasised the paramount importance of defence and internal security, stating that the internal security architecture will be revamped to strengthen law enforcement capabilities and safeguard lives, property, and investments nationwide.

Recognizing children as the cornerstone of the nation, he underscored the budget’s prioritization of human development, with particular attention to this vulnerable group.

Tinubu said his led administration will prioritize value for money, coupled with increased transparency and accountability to enhance the efficacy of budget performance.

“In this regard, we will intensify collaboration with development partners and the private sector,” he remarked.

He further added that a more sustainable model for financing tertiary education will be implemented, encompassing the Student Loan Scheme slated to commence operations in January 2024 to address long standing issues within the education sector.

“A stable macro-economic environment is important to catalyse private investment and accelerate economic growth. We have and shall continue to implement business and investment friendly measures for sustainable growth.

“We expect the economy to grow by a minimum of 3.76 percent, above the forecasted world average. Inflation is expected to moderate to 21.4 percent in 2024.”
