Foremost Nigerian singer-songwriter and second generation musician, Seun Kuti has stated that he is a ‘Juju’ worshipper.

‘Juju’ is a colloquial term for charm.

Seun Kuti, the son of the legendary Afrobeat connoisseur, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti has stated that despite being the grandchild of Chief Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, who was an anti-colonial feminist, and Reverend Israel Oludotun Ransome-Kuti, an Anglican minister, school principal, and the first president of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, he doesn’t believe in religion.

The singer said despite his familyā€™s role in propagating Christianity in Nigeria, he is not a follower of the religion.

He boldly declared that he is a ā€œjujuā€ worshipper.

Speaking in the latest episode of the Spill With Phyna podcast, Kuti urged other Africans to return to African traditional religions.

He said, ā€œIt was my family that started Anglican side of Christianity in this country, if you look back at it. We are among the pioneers. So, weā€™ve been there, weā€™ve done that and weā€™ve moved on. And we hope Africans can follow suit.

ā€œI donā€™t go to church. Na juju me I dey do.ā€
