Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

News Round The Clock (NRTC) has garnered numerous photos of fans, players portraying their emotions at the ongoing African Cup of Nations Cup (AFCON) tournament.

The narrative is aimed at looking at how football can determine the mental wellbeing of not only the players on the pitch but the fans who are in the stands and the audience viewing the game from the comfort of their homes or enjoying the conviviality of different classes of people at a viewing center.

Football brings people together, regardless of age, race, color or religion- in this case, AFCON has brought together Africans and the heritage of African values, culture and tradition.

Football doesnā€™t only bring happiness and hope, it could also breed resentment, animosity and despair. Hey, life isnā€™t fair- just like the game of life, in football, there are conundrums and moments of downtrodden in the game of football.

Ghanaian fans did not get a chance to experience the knockout phase of the tournament

After surviving the group stages through the skin of their teeth, we saw teams bow out in the round of 16. Some were able to soar further, just like the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

As for the host, Ivory Coast, after finishing as one of the best losers in the group stages, they were able to overcome the defending champions, Senegal, 5-4 on penalties.

So far, the games at the AFCON tournament hasnā€™t been to the swift, instead it has been to the determined, rugged and most importantly, the lucky- yes, not necessarily the best.

As stated, here are images depicting the various games of the AFCON tournament.
