Matawalle commends military for neutralizing  terror reign of Boderi


Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has commended the Nigerian Military for neutralizing Boderi and his cohorts, effectively ending their reign of terror in Kaduna State over the weekend.

The Minister commended the military’s actions as commendable and reiterated the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s commitment to ensuring adequate security across the nation.

In a statement, Director of Information and Public Relations Henshaw Ogubike conveyed Mr Matawalle’s praise for the military’s commendable bravery and professionalism.  He emphasized the need to sustain these qualities to eradicate insecurity from the country.

Mr Matawalle urged other stakeholders to cooperate with the Federal Government in combating insurgency and terrorism. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support and commitment to continued collaboration towards eradicating terrorism in Nigeria.

Prior to his neutralization, Boderi and his group had terrorized Kaduna and its surroundings for an extended period.

For nearly a decade, Boderi, also known simply as Boderi, inflicted fear, death, and destruction upon Kaduna State and neighboring Niger State.

Furthermore, the Minister emphasised that Boderi’s neutralization marks a significant breakthrough in Nigeria’s fight against banditry and terrorism.

The Minister reported that notorious bandit, insurgent, and ruthless killer Boderi Isyaku was neutralized alongside some of his fighters during a gun duel with Nigerian troops in the Bada/Riyawa general areas of Chikun and Igabi LGAs.

He further commended the Nigerian troops for their overall efforts, highlighting the elimination of 286 terrorists, the arrest of 244 others, the apprehension of 73 crude oil smugglers, and the rescue of 122 kidnapped victims as of February 22nd, 2024.

Mr Matawalle urged Nigerians to support the Armed Forces, emphasizing that the Federal Government is taking all possible measures to combat insecurity and restore hope to the nation.
