Foremost Nigerian thespian, Adunni Ade has said she finds speaking the Yoruba language draining, adding that it sometimes hurts her nerves.

She said this when she was featured in a recent episode of the Channels Television programme, Morning Brief.

The thespian born to a German-American mother and a Nigerian father of Yoruba descent, said she prefers English which is Nigeriaā€™s lingua franca, stressing that all the other languages should be put aside.

She said, ā€œSpeaking Yoruba is draining, sometimes it hurts my nerves. The first language that we know in Nigeria is English. Letā€™s put all the other languages aside.ā€

She, however, appreciated that her father brought her to Nigeria to learn the Nigerian culture, language, and everything Nigerian.
