Euro 2024: Mikel Merino breaks German hearts with 119th-minute winner

Spain 2 – 1 Germany (AET): Mikel Merino extra-time header knocks the hosts out of their own tournament.

Spain are the first team to qualify for the semi-finals at Euro 2024 after a pulsating quarter-final match against Germany which ended by one goal apiece after 90 minutes.

The European Championship first quarter final match however ended in a dramatic fashion after going into extra time bringing an end to the hosts tournament and their legendary midfielder Toni Kroos’s career.

Spain’s Mikel Merino scored in the last minute of extra-time after Bayer Leverkusen playmaker, Wirtz had cancelled out Dani Olmo’s second half brilliantly taken goal.

Spain proceed to the Semis and await the winner of Portugal vs France quarter dinal match.
