President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the National Assembly and the Kaduna State Government following the death of Honourable Ekene Abubakar Adams.
Late Adams represented the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State in the House of Representatives under the Labour Party (LP).Ā
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, announced this in a statement on Tuesday.
Tinubu also extended his sympathies to the family and friends of the late lawmaker, encouraging them to find comfort in the Almighty and Adams’ legacy. The President prayed for the repose of Adams’ soul and strength for his family.
Late Adams, who died on Tuesday, was the chairman of the House Committee on Sports. Before his tenure in the House of Representatives, he served as the general manager of Kada City Football Club and Remo Stars.Ā
He was elected to the House in the 2023 general election.

House of Representatives spokesperson Akin Rotimi described Adams as a dedicated public servant, a passionate sports administrator, and a kind philanthropist in a statement.Ā
Rotimi highlighted Adams’ unwavering commitment to grassroots sports development in Nigeria and noted that his contributions to the House will be greatly missed.Ā
Late Adams is the second member of the House to die in the past week. Olaide Akinremi, who represented the Ibadan North Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), died last Wednesday after a brief illness.Ā
This came just weeks after the death of Isa Dogonyaro, a representative for the Babura/Garki Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, who died in May following a brief illness.
With Adams’ death, he became the third member of the lower legislative chamber to die in 2024.
