Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

The new Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS led management have surprisingly kicked-off in their first window with United like they speculated they would. On the back of the FA cup victory against neighbours City, the first bid of business was a contract renewal for first team gaffer Erik Ten Hag.

The Red Devils enjoyed an abysmal showing across the 23/24 season, narrowly even securing European football at the end of the campaign. Arguably, the club’s poorest stint across a league season. Unexpectedly falling to smaller teams and looking way off the mark against the bigger sides.

A clumsy defensive unit, usually by-passed midfield and an ineffective forward line characterized the team’s fortunes. Not forgetting the behind the scenes brouhaha with the takeover, fanbase critiquing players and comically the Sancho-Ten Hag saga.

One thing of clarity from the last window was something desperately needed to change in the squad’s outlook. Straight up into the window, Erik Ten Hag got a response to the need for a forward that could augment and share the burden with Rasmus Hojlund up top.

While also boasting enough versatility to cover other spots in attack – in that he got former Bayern Munich and Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. An arrival coinciding with that of legendary Dutch forward Ruud Van Nistelrooy as a part of the backroom staff.

A public statement from the club has put out that Jadon Sancho has returned to first team training following the loan spell with Borussia Dortmund. With no clear indications with who reached out to fix the rift between manager and player, his confirmed presence shows up the quality on the flank for the outfit.

In the defensive unit, the club have secured the signing of highly sought after teenager Leny Yoro from LOSC Lille at the expense of rumoured suitors Real Madrid and local rivals Liverpool. The club still reportedly remain in talks with Matthijs De Ligt to bulk up the CB contingent.

The middle of the park which has Bruno Fernandes as leader and the youthful Kobbie Mainoo needing a destroyer profile beside him to aid his play linking capabilities – talk has commenced with Paris Saint Germain for the services of Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

As arrivals continue, their is a must for exits to follow suit to create enough squad space and consequently make sales to cover the spent budget. Raphael Varane has departed club while Victor Lindelof and likely Aaron Wan Bissaka would also make switches.

One of Scottish midfielder Mctominay or Carlos Casimiro should also make way to accomodate a new midfielder and up top loan or full exits for Facundo Pellistri, Amad Diallo or even more staggering Marcus Rashford with PSG’s reported interests in the background.
