Premier League Matchday 11 Preview

Premier League matchday 11 is one of the most anticipated this season as it includes a north London derby between Jose Mourinhoā€™s Spurs and Mikel Artetaā€™s Arsenal.

The Friday night kick-off between Aston Villa and Newcastle has been postponed till further notice due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the Magpies camp.

Saturday’s games

Burnley vs Everton

The weekend kicks off with a clash at Turf Moor as Carlo Ancelottiā€™s Everton visit Burnley.

Burnley suffered an embarrassing defeat last weekend which sent them back into the relegation zone. However they will be looking to capitalise on all chances against their visitors.

This is because, despite a flying start to the season, the Toffees have struggled in recent games and shipped in a lot of goals. The loss of Lucas Digne to injury does not help and has reduced their potency going forward.

Finding a way to cope with these issues will prove crucial if they are to get back to winning ways.

Manchester City vs Fulham

The Citizens seem to have gotten back their magic as they hit 5 past Burnley last weekend. The return of Sergio Aguero to fitness has also bolstered their attacking options as they face a comparatively weaker Fulham side.

Fulham has improved in their performances on the pitch. A win at the King Power Stadium on Monday means the Cottagers are beginning to have good results. Being more clinical with their chances would do them a lot of good if they are to take any point away from the Etihad.

West Ham vs Manchester United

The Hammers welcome the Red Devils to the London Stadium on Saturday. West Ham has a decent record against top sides this season, with victory over Leicester and Wolves, and draws against Manchester City and Spurs.

They are also in very good form, winning their last 3 games and sit 5th on the league standings.

On the other hand, Manchester United has had ups and downs this season as they struggle for consistency. But they have a very good away record, winning their last 8 Premier League games, despite conceding first in the last 4.

However, fans will be back in the London Stadium for the first time in a while and may well give the Hammers an edge.

Chelsea vs Leeds United

It seems a long time ago that Frank Lampardā€™s men were struggling for consistency at the start of the season. They have put that behind them with a 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions; the most recent of which was a 4-0 win over Sevilla in the Champions League midweek.

Chelsea are defensively solid and have a variety of options going forward that could cause problems for any team.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men appear weak at the back. However, like Chelsea, Leeds attacks are very difficult to deal with mainly due to their style of play.

This promises to be an open and potentially high scoring game.

Premier League Matchday 11 – Sunday action

West Bromwich Albion vs Crystal Palace

The Baggies finally got their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over the Blades last weekend.

They are starting to get solid at the back as theyā€™ve conceded few goals in their recent games. But apart from Mattias Pereira who has been their creative force, they still need more creativity from other players.

They also need to be more clinical if they are to survive the Premier League this season. They would look to add to their win against a shaky Crystal Palace side.

Palace has lost their last 2 games, failing to score in both games. This could be down to the absence of Wilfred Zaha who may return to action this weekend.

Failure to win any more games could spell the beginning of a relegtion battle for the Eagles.

Sheffield United vs Leicester City

The Blades are still without a win this season, earning just 1 point in 10 games. As they sit at the bottom of the Premier league table, this fixture isnā€™t particularly favourable to them.

This is considering how badly they need a win in order to have a chance at survival.

However, the Foxes have struggled for consistency this season, dropping points against teams that they are expected to cruise past.

A change in shape would do them a lot of good especially with the return of Wilfred Ndidi to fitness. They now look to get back to winning ways after a disappointing loss to Fulham on Monday.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal

Itā€™s the North London derby once again as the Gunners face Jose Mourinhoā€™s men in a Super Sunday clash at White Hart Lane.

Spurs are favorites to claim victory as they have been fantastic so far this season. As they currently top the table, people are seeing them as genuine title contenders this season.

They have a dangerous attack in Harry Kane and Heung Min Son and also have the best defensive record in the League.

Arsenal on the other hand is struggling with creating chances and goal scoring. A loss in this game will put pressure on Mikel Arteta. Their recent form cast doubts on whether the team has actually improved under him.

Liverpool vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Liverpool is struggling from injury woes but seems to have enough firepower to keep the team going. They were very unlucky not to get a win last weekend, as Brighton drew level late in the game with a penalty.

This fixture would be a much tougher challenge as Wolves have been very difficult to play against this season. The big question is whether Wolves would still pose an attacking threat with Raul Jimenez side-lined due to injury.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Southampton

It sounds strange to say, but this promises to be a very exciting game because both teams have a thrilling style of play.

Brighton has been unlucky not to get results that reflect their performances. However, things are turning out quite well for them in recent games.

The Saints on the other hand, epitomize an over-achieving side. Their high-pressing style of play has yielded dividends for them this season and they sit 6th on the league table.

This game could go either way and seems like a fixture with lots of goals in it.
