Aiyedatiwa promises investment in skills development

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in young people by ensuring they have access to quality education, skills training, and mentorship opportunities.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, it was disclosed that Governor Aiyedatiwa made this pledge on Tuesday while welcoming the Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, at the South West Youth Stakeholders Summit held in the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Akure.

Governor Aiyedatiwa underscored that youths are the backbone of any society and highlighted the significance of their growth and empowerment for a prosperous future.

“Our administration is dedicated to creating an environment that nurtures innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship, enabling young people to flourish and achieve their full potential.

“We must invest in our young people by providing them with access to quality education, skills training, and mentorship opportunities. We believe in your energy, creativity, and passion. You have the power to transform our communities, our state, and our country.”

The governor commended President Bola Tinubu for implementing policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda that address challenges such as unemployment, poverty, and inequality.

He pointed to ongoing initiatives in employment, education, and youth empowerment, including the recruitment of teachers and health professionals, youth entrepreneurship programs, and the recently launched “One Youth, One Skill” initiative.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also lauded the youths in the South-West region for rejecting calls for protests and maintaining peace and security. He encouraged continuous collaboration to find constructive solutions to challenges.

Minister of Youth Development, DrJamila Bio Ibrahim, praised the resilience and patriotism of Nigerian youths.

She highlighted the federal government’s economic reforms and initiatives, including the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, support for unemployed graduates, and the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund.

Dr. Ibrahim urged the youths to embrace peace, support government policies, and seize opportunities for development and funding provided by initiatives like the Consumer Credit Programme.

Additionally, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, commended the Minister’s decision to hold the regional youth stakeholders event in Ondo State.
