England interim manager Lee Carsley has invited Noni Madueke and Morgan Gibbs-White to England’s squad ahead of their UEFA Nations League matches.

Also overlooked are Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, Arsenal defender Ben White and Tottenham midfielder James Maddison.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham and United left-back Luke Shaw miss out through injury.

As NRTC earlier reported on Thursday, Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier has announced his retirement from international football.

Red Devils former captain Harry Maguire and Manchester City winger Jack Grealish are recalled to the national team squad. Both players were ignored by former manager Gareth Southgate for the European Championship earlier this year.

England face the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on 7 September (17:00 GMT+1/WAT) in the Nations League. The Three Lions then slug it out with Finland at Wembley on 10 September (19:45 GMT+1/WAT).

Carsley and ex-U21 boys’ reunion

Madueke, Gibbs-White, Gomes, and Livramento all featured for Carsley when he was manager of England Under-21. The 50-year-old former Republic of Ireland international was appointed manager of the U-21 team in 2021.

Six players listed in Carsley’s first England senior team squad had won the 2023 Under-21 European Championship under the gaffer. The players are Gomes, Madueke, Gibbs-White, Cole Palmer, Anthony Gordon and Levi Colwill.
