1908- Orville Wright makes 1st 1-hr airplane flight
The Wright brothers are known for their incredible work in making flying a dream come true for man. They invented the first aircraft and it was no easy feat as they spent about eight years trying to make this dream come true. On September 9, 1908, the first 1-hour flight record was achieved by Orville Wright in Fort Myer, Virginia lasting for about 63 minutes.

1976- Chairman Mao Zedong of Communist China dies of heart attack
The Chinese nationalist was born 26 December 1893 and died September 9, 1976 due to a heart attack. He was a Chinese leader whose leadership mechanism was based on communism.
Additionally, he served as the 1st Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party from 1946 and until his death in 1976. He also served as the first President of China from 1 October 1949 ā 27 April 1959.
In his lifetime, Mao Zedong upheld some principles that somewhat affected the people negatively- The Great Famine of China and the Cultural Persecution. Born of 26 December 1893, the Chinese leader died September 9, 1976 due to a heart attack.

2015- Queen Elizabeth II becomes the longest reigning monarch with a record of 63 years 7 months in British History.
Prior to this feat, Queen Victoria was the longest British reigning monarch with 63 years record between 1837 and 1901. But on this day in 2015, Queen Elizabeth II broke the record. The Queen of England ruled for 70 years from 1952 until her death on September 8, 2022.
