Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has been named the 2023/24 England Men’s Player of the Year following a stellar debut campaign with the Blues.
The 22-year-old was voted England’s top player ahead of Real Madrid midfield maestro Jude Bellingham and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka who finished second and third respectively.
Palmer made his Three Lions debut in a 2-0 win over Malta at Wembley in November 2023. He has since made a total of nine senior appearances, including playing in five games at UEFA EURO 2024, not starting a single one of them.

The former Manchester City player has also scored two goals since his debut for the national team. One of those includes a great strike against Spain during the EURO 2024 final in Berlin.
During the Euros, Palmer played a total of 145 minutes across seven games. Prior to his goal off the bench in the final, he had assisted Ollie Watkins’ winner in the semi-final.
Cole Palmer was instrumental for both England and Chelsea
Palmer’s breakthrough season for England came alongside an impressive debut campaign for Chelsea. Following his win, which was announced on Tuesday, he becomes the first Chelsea player to win the award since former left-back Ashley Cole did in 2010.
Only England players who had played in 50 per cent or more senior fixtures between September 2023 and July 2024 were eligible to vote.
The 2023/24 England women’s player of the year is scheduled to be announced later in October.
