Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has announced that the era of part payments and percentage-based salary distributions is over, emphasising that these practices are now a thing of the past in the state.
He made this declaration during his address to members of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) at the NULGE Day ceremony in Akure on Wednesday.
At the event, the union unanimously endorsed Aiyedatiwa for the upcoming gubernatorial election on November 16 and honoured him with an award as the grand patron.
The governor reiterated his commitment to the welfare of workers in the state, assuring them of his readiness to implement the newly approved minimum wage of N73,000.
“I understand that you all didn’t come out today just to make a show of numbers. You are here to express your solidarity with me, and I am deeply appreciative of that,” he said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa also announced the approval of leave bonuses for civil servants in the State, committing to intensify his efforts upon election.

However, Fredrick Akinrilola, the State President of NULGE, expressed his gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for his consistent attention to the union’s concerns and his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of its members.
“We have witnessed remarkable growth and progress under your leadership, you have always shown a genuine commitment to our issues, and this is why we, as a union, have unanimously decided to endorse you as our preferred candidate for the November 16 gubernatorial election”, he said.
Akinrilola highlighted that the union’s support for Governor Aiyedatiwa is rooted in his proven commitment to enhancing their working conditions and amplifying their voices.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa has always been there for us, and we believe that with him, the future of local government employees in Ondo State is secure,” he concluded.
Bola Taiwo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters, commended the Governor for his selfless dedication to the welfare of civil and public servants in the state.
Meanwhile, Comrade Hakeem Ambali, the National President of NULGE, expressed his support for Governor Aiyedatiwa, sharing his satisfaction with the positive feedback he has received about the governor’s leadership.
