Although specific details regarding the exact nature of Libya’s violation were not disclosed in the statement, the penalty is substantial.
Libya is not only penalised with a 3-0 forfeit loss but is also ordered to pay a fine of $50,000. The fine must be settled within 60 days of the notification of the decision. Failure to comply with the payment schedule could lead to further repercussions for the Libyan federation.

This development means Nigeria remain top of Group D of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers with 10 points after four games. The Super Eagles are yet to concede a goal in the qualifiers.
For Libya, the forfeited points mean they remain on one point and sit bottom of the group.
Meanwhile, the CAF Disciplinary Board confirmed that all additional motions or appeals for relief regarding the case have been dismissed. This shows they emphasise the finality of their decision.
