Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside his wife, Claudiana Ibijoke, welcomed Abdulazeez Abdulrahmon, the One-Day Governor and overall winner of the 20th Spelling Bee Competition, at the State House in Marina on Monday.
According to a statement by Sanwo-Oluās spokesperson, Gboyega Akosile, Abdulrahmon, a student of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, was accompanied by other student leaders.
These included Oki Sewanu Coordinator, One-Day Deputy Governor and student of Ansar-Ud-Deen Senior Grammar School, Badagry, and Saheed Alimot-Odere, One-Day Secretary to the State Government, from Jubilee Model Senior Grammar School, Coker Aguda.
During the reception, Governor Sanwo-Olu encouraged the student leaders to remain focused, reminding them that their future holds great potential.
He highlighted that many past One-Day Governors and Deputy Governors have gone on to excel in various fields, having completed their university education and become ambassadors of the state.

In her remarks, First Lady Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu congratulated the students for their achievements, noting that the Spelling Bee Competition continues to build confidence and vocabulary skills, fostering better communicators for the future.
She also underscored her officeās initiatives, such as the War Against Drug Abuse, the Fight Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, the Lagos Boy Child Initiative, and the School Support Initiative.
The First Lady encouraged the students to persist in their academic pursuits, emphasizing the governmentās commitment to creating a conducive learning environment for all children.
The event was also attended by the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Oluremi Hamzat, as well as top government officials, including the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary of Education District II, Anike Adekanye, and representatives from the Office of Education Quality Assurance.
