Barcelona Femeni midfielder Aitana Bonmatí has won the 2024 Ballon d’Or Feminin, her second in as many years. She triumphed over teammates Caroline Graham Hansen and Salma Paralluelo for the prize.
Bonmati’s stellar season saw her lead Barcelona to a historic quadruple as she won every major club trophy available. She won the Spanish Liga F, UEFA Champions League, Supercopa, and Copa de la Reina.
Across these four competitions, Bonmati achieved her career-best stats, netting 19 times and supplying 18 assists. Her remarkable performance elevated Barcelona to an unforgettable season in women’s football.

Remarkably, Bonmati’s success was evident on the international scene. She helped Spain win their first-ever Women’s Nations League title. The player also scored four goals in the tournament, including one in the final against France.
Interestingly, the Barcelona star clinched the Ballon d’Or in 2023, ahead of Chelsea star Sam Kerr and her teammate Paralluelo. Her back-to-back Ballon d’Or wins shows how influential Bonmatí has been for both club and country over the past two years.
Notably, Barcelona players have dominated the Women’s Ballon d’Or in recent years, with the last four winners all hailing from the club. Alexia Putellas won consecutive prizes in both 2021 and 2022.
