1924: Nellie Tayloe Ross became the first woman to serve as governor of a U.S. state on November 4, 1924. She won the special election in Wyoming with 55.12% of the votes.

1933: Biafran leader,Odumegwu Ojukwu was a prominent Nigerian military leader and politician, born on November 4, 1933, in Zungeru, Nigeria. He played a pivotal role in the country’s history as the leader of the secessionist state of Biafra during the Nigerian Civil War (1967-1970).

1958: The Democratic Party regained control of the House of Representatives, demonstrating the ever-changing landscape of American governance.

1979: In a dramatic turn of events, 500 Iranian students loyal to Ayatollah Khomeini seized the United States Embassy in Tehran. They took 80 hostages and sparking an international crisis.

1980: According to History, Ronald Reagan, the 40th U.S. president, was elected on November 4, 1980, and served two terms from 1981 to 1989. He was a former actor and California governor who implemented groundbreaking policies

1995: On this day in 1995, Yitzhak Rabin, the Israeli Prime Minister and Nobel Peace Prize winner, was senselessly murdered by a Jewish extremist while advocating for peace.

2008: Barack Obama made history in 2008 by becoming the first Black President of the United States. With this win, he defeated Republican candidate John McCain in a landmark victory.

He won 365 electoral votes and nearly 53 percent of the popular vote.This achievement was significant, not only because of Obama’s Black heritage but also because he was the first sitting U.S. senator to win the presidency since John F. Kennedy in 1960

His trial is scheduled to commence on May 5, 2025.
