xAI’s Grok-2 could be free on X soon

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

xAI founded by Elon Musk introduced its AI chatbot known as Grok in late December 2023 and has remained a product for X (previously Twitter) analytics premium users only. One year later, Grok appears to be launching to liberate X users in some locations, according to TechCruche.

The news is derived from several articles regarding X by researchers and users who noticed Grok’s changes. As mentioned by X user Swak, there are conditions for free usage of xAI and how much volume users that fall under certain criteria can utilize the platform. First, the accounts must be no younger than a week and be tied to a phone number. Again it has been claimed that the free users can only do a limited number of things in the next two hours. At that time, they could answer 10 questions about the Grok-2 model while the Grok-2 mini model could answer 20 questions. Moreover, premium ones provide a chance to determine how many images a user can analyze for free ā€“ only three per day.
