Leading Story: Tinubu seeks Senate confirmation of new COAS
President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate’s confirmation of Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as the substantive Chief of Army Staff.
In his letter, Tinubu cited Section 218(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Section 18(1) of the Armed Forces Act to back his request.

Politics: Post-Ondo governorship election
Following the recently concluded Ondo governorship election, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emerged victorious, defeating candidates like former deputy governor Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Olayide Adelami, received their Certificates of Return in Abuja. In a gesture of unity, candidates from 13 political parties, including Accord (A), Labour Party (LP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), pledged their support for his administration during a meeting at the Government House in Akure.

Economy: Hardship in Nigeria
Nigerians are grappling with severe economic challenges, worsened by rising inflation under President Bola Tinubu‘s administration. The high cost of food, fuel, and other essentials has fueled widespread frustration.
The lack of job opportunities, especially for youth, has exacerbated social unrest. Security issues, including terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, have further disrupted lives and economic growth. NRTC gathered that espite measures like social safety nets and economic reforms, the government’s efforts have yet to ease the hardships faced by many Nigerians.
