Kwara State has been hailed as a pacesetter in basic education by the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Hamid Boboyi.
His commendation came during the maiden Smart School Funfair, organised by the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB) on Thursday at the Universal Model Smart School (UMSS) in Adeta, Ilorin.
The event celebrated the remarkable achievements of the stateās Model Smart School, showcasing the studentsā technology knowledge, artistic works, and innovation.
Boboyi, who attended the event, praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaqās commitment to advancing smart education in the state, noting that Kwara has consistently led the way in educational reforms in Nigeria.
āKwara has always been at the forefront of educational development in Nigeria, and its proactive approach to addressing challenges in education makes it a role model for other states,ā Boboyi said.
He added that the stateās collaborative approach, where all stakeholders including the community, teachers, and the government work together, ensures that education policies are successfully implemented.

KWSUBEB Chairman Shehu Raheem Adaramaja also emphasised the role of the Smart School initiative in bridging educational gaps.
The school incorporates advanced technology such as digital learning tools, robotics labs, and smart learning hubs, while also focusing on improving academic performance, community engagement, and teacher capacity-building.
The funfair was attended by a host of dignitaries including Kwara State officials, members of the Kwara Assembly, education experts, and community leaders, all of whom expressed their support for the state’s ongoing efforts to modernize education.
Bashir Galandachi, the National Coordinator of the Digital Resource Centre at UBEC, also praised the initiative, emphasising the importance of technology in education and the dedication of both the teachers and the state government to making the Smart School a success.
