Barack Obama: Rema, Asake appear on former US president’s favourite music list

The former President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, released his annual favourite music playlist.

On the list, Obama featured several notable Afrobeat musicians, such as Asake, Rema, and Grammy-award-winning South African musician Tyla.

The former American president released the list of his favourite songs for 2024 on Saturday and ā€˜Yayoā€™ by Rema and ā€˜Activeā€™ by Asake featuring Travis Scott, cut.

Another African artist, Tyla of South Africa, also made the list with ā€˜Jumpā€™ featuring Gunna and Skillibeng.
Nigerian-American singers, Shaboozey and Jordan Adetunji appeared on the list with ā€˜A Bar Songā€™ and ā€˜Kehlani.ā€™

The usual suspects like Kendrick Lamar, BeyoncƩ and Karol G all made the cut with a song each.

Sharing his list via X, Obama wrote, ā€œHere are my favorite songs from this year! Check them out if youā€™re looking to shake up your playlist ā€“ and let me know if thereā€™s a song or artist I should make sure to listen to.ā€
