To ensure a seamless registration process for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and prevent potential delays, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has informed prospective candidates that they can now generate and save their profile codes ahead of registration.
Candidates have also been reminded to obtain their National Identification Number (NIN), which is a mandatory requirement for UTME/DE registration.
The Board emphasized that the phone number used to request the profile code will be automatically linked to the candidate’s name and will be the primary means of communication for all matters concerning the application, examination, and admission process. Upon request, candidates will receive a ten-character profile code sent to the same phone number.
To generate the profile code, candidates should send a text message containing “NIN” followed by their 11-digit NIN number to either 55019 or 66019 from their personal GSM number. For example, the message should appear as: “NIN 12345678901” (without quotation marks), and be sent to one of the specified shortcodes.

In addition, JAMB has issued a stern warning regarding the use of henna, also known as “Laali” or “Lale,” urging candidates to avoid applying it to their fingers. The practice has been found to disrupt the biometric verification process, as it can obscure fingerprint details or, in some cases, damage them when cleaned with harsh chemicals.
As successful biometric verification is crucial for exam entry, candidates are urged to take extra care in preserving the integrity of their fingerprints throughout the registration and examination processes.
