NRTC WEEKLY Highlights
Politics: Obi vs Felix Morka
A week after calling on President Bola Tinubu to assess the poverty level across Nigeria by visiting the 36 states, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi alleged that his life was under threat.
The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate revealed on his X page that Felix Morka, the APC Publicity Secretary, threatened him over comments he made about Nigeria’s economic challenges during his New Year broadcast.
Obi accused Morka of warning him that he would face the consequences of crossing the line with Tinubu’s administration.
Obi claimed that this warning led to numerous threats against him, his family, and associates.
Morka, however, defended himself during a media appearance on Arise TV, denying Obi’s allegations.
He countered that since Obi’s accusations, supporters of the Labour Party, known as the “Obedients,” had issued over 200 death threats against him.
Morka expressed concerns for his safety and called for protection. The APC National Chairman, Umar Ganduje, backed Morka, asserting that he did not threaten Obi.
The allegations sparked widespread controversy, with Nigerians debating the place of opposition in a democracy. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar weighed in, suggesting that Tinubu’s administration might be trying to silence dissent.
As the drama unfolds, Nigerians remain divided over who is telling the truth between Obi and Morka.
