The race towards the 2027 general elections gained early momentum as the All Progressives Congress (APC) commenced the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.

In a notable political development, James Faleke, the lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, collected the presidential nomination forms on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.

Faleke also picked up nomination forms for Obafemi Hamzat, Idiat Adebule, and himself, signalling coordinated moves within the party’s Lagos political bloc.

The exercise took place at the Abuja Continental Hotel, where senior party figures were also in attendance, including Duro Meseko, Deputy National Publicity Secretary; Bawa Rijau, National Vice Chairman (North Central); and Mary Aliele, National Women Leader.

The forms were formally issued to Faleke by a senior delegation of the APC National Working Committee (NWC).

The development is interpreted as a strong indication of Tinubu’s intention to seek re-election in 2027 under the “Renewed Hope” agenda, effectively quieting ongoing speculation around the party’s presidential ticket.

Support

Faleke, a long-time ally of the President, acted on behalf of a wider group of supporters present at the venue.

The commencement of nomination sales marks the APC’s first major step in its official timetable towards the 2027 elections.

While other aspirants are expected to declare interest in the coming weeks, the early collection of forms on Tinubu’s behalf is already being viewed by observers as a strategic move to consolidate internal support and build early momentum ahead of the party primaries.

The APC has scheduled its presidential primary for later in May, with the purchase of nomination forms serving as the mandatory first step for all prospective candidates.
