3 reasons Spurs should cash in on Kane this summer

This year’s summer transfer window will be the third in succession that Harry Kane’s future is likely to be the biggest talking point as Tottenham ponders whether to cash in or not.

As the Premier League 2022/23 season gradually winds down, and with Manchester City on the verge of winning a third successive title in a row. All thanks in part to Arsenal’s capitulation. The focus will soon shift to players’ transfers.

Every Premier League club would have to quickly decide on which players are surplus to requirement and which players are valuable assets to cash in on, and no other player will be more on demand this summer than Harry Kane.

Below, I will list and highlight three reasons while Tottenham should look to a future without their talismanic striker.

1. Cashing in on Kane to fund a rebuild

After a completely shambolic season on and off the pitch, it is obvious that Tottenham will need a rebuild, and this can be funded by potential funds raised from selling Harry.

The argument would be if Spurs could cope without their legendary striker who has literally kept them relevant with his goals in the last decade. But I am of the opinion that Tottenham needs to look to a future without their captain by cashing in big time and using the proceeds to fund their rebuild with Tottenham struggling to compete financially with most of their top 6 rivals.

2. Kane deserves to end his career with a trophy

The only thing missing in Harry’s fine career so far is a lack of trophy. With Tottenham lack of silverware not likely to change soon, and considering that Kane has given so much to Spurs over these years, letting the England captain go, if he chooses to depart this summer would be the only fair decision by Tottenham Chairman, Daniel Levy.

3. Tottenham needs to refresh their ageing squad

The average age for Tottenham current squad stands at 27.1, and with their North London rivals, Arsenal’s average age being 24.1. Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, and Son are 36, 29, and 30, respectively. While I am not suggesting that Spurs let go of all their experience at once, but a phased refresh wouldn’t hinder them too much, and it is about time to move away from being over reliant on Kane’s goals.

What will happen at the end of the summer is highly unpredictable, but one thing that is certain is that the Harry Kane transfer saga which started three seasons ago when City gave it a good go, will end up dominating the football transfer media coverage this summer.
