The Oyo State Police Command has debunked viral social media reports claiming that the pupils and teachers abducted from the Orire Local Government Area have been released by their captors.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, the command labelled the trending news as false, misleading, and entirely unsubstantiated.
The command clarified that the victims, who were kidnapped from Ahoro Esiele and Yawota Communities, remain in captivity.

However, the police assured the public and the distraught families that intensive, coordinated rescue operations are currently in full swing across the region.

Security forces are utilising all available human and operational assets to secure the safe return of the students and their teachers.
The command emphasised that its primary objective is the unharmed reunification of the victims with their families and the eventual prosecution of the perpetrators.
“The Command states unequivocally that the claim is false, misleading, and entirely unsubstantiated. As of the time of this release, there has been no such development,” the statement clarified.
“Security operatives are working tirelessly to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers.”

The police cautioned the public against the spread of unverified narratives and sensational reports.
