The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has confirmed that there is currently no reported case of the Bundibugyo Ebola virus disease in Nigeria.
However, the ministry said it has stepped up national preparedness and surveillance measures in response to ongoing outbreaks of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
According to the ministry, the preventive actions include intensified screening at airports, seaports, and land borders, as well as strengthened disease surveillance systems.

It also noted that emergency response structures have been activated, alongside improved laboratory capacity, rapid response readiness, and continuous training and sensitisation of healthcare workers.

Travellers entering the country are required to fill out health declaration forms that capture their recent travel history. Individuals showing symptoms linked to viral haemorrhagic fevers during thermal screening are immediately isolated for further medical evaluation and referral.
The ministry further stated that rapid response teams have been placed on standby for deployment at both national and subnational levels as part of ongoing integrated disease surveillance and control efforts.
It also said it is actively tracking and verifying public health alerts and rumours to ensure accurate information is maintained.
Nigerians were urged to remain calm, adhere to good hygiene practices, avoid spreading unverified information, and rely only on official sources for updates on public health matters.
