Media personality Toke Makinwa has revealed that her one-year-old daughter, Yakira Eliana, is currently being homeschooled as part of the child’s early learning arrangement.
Toke disclosed this while speaking about her daughter’s upbringing and education on her platform, Toke Moments.
According to the media personality, Yakira has a teacher who oversees her home-learning programme, while another teacher handles her arts and crafts lessons.
She also disclosed that the homeschooling arrangement comes at a considerable cost, noting that she has invested in different learning activities for her daughter at the early stage of her development.
Toke further revealed that Yakira’s teacher expects the child to begin reading by the time she turns two.

She said: “My daughter is homeschooled, and it’s not cheap. She also does arts and crafts with another teacher. Her teacher said she would start reading by age two, and I think I’ve done well as a mom.”
Toke publicly announced her pregnancy on August 13, 2025, after sharing photos and a video showing her baby bump.
She described the pregnancy as the biggest project of her life and her highest calling. The announcement attracted considerable attention because she had not publicly announced a husband or partner at the time.

On August 28, 2025, she announced that she had given birth to her first child, a daughter named Yakira Eliana Olakitan Iyanuoluwa Ikeoluwa Adunola.
The media personality unveiled her daughter’s face on her first birthday.
She described the arrival as an answered prayer and shared photographs showing the baby’s hand.
Toke Makinwa was previously married to fitness entrepreneur Maje Ayida.
The marriage took place in January 2014. The couple later separated in 2015 following infidelity allegations, and their divorce was finalized in 2017.
The marriage and its breakdown became part of the personal experiences Toke later discussed in her memoir, On Becoming.
