Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared his determination to thwart President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 general elections.

Amaechi, who now leads the South-South chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the vow on Wednesday while addressing a crowd of supporters at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

Expressing frustration over the current state of the nation, Amaechi criticised the Tinubu-led administration for the worsening economic hardship in the country.

He expressed frustration with the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government, stating that even wealthy individuals now spend as much as ₦4 million on electricity.

“Only God knows how ordinary Nigerians are managing to survive,” he added.

He urged residents of Rivers State to join the ADC and take an active role in changing the political landscape, stressing the importance of credible elections.

His comments come as the ADC steps up its mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 polls, positioning itself as a major opposition force to the ruling APC.
