After a decade of unforgettable memories, Son Heung-min has confirmed he will be leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 33-year-old South Korean forward is set for a new chapter in Major League Soccer with Los Angeles FC.

Son arrived in North London as a relatively unknown talent from Bayer Leverkusen. Over time, he blossomed into a Premier League icon, netting 173 goals in 454 games for Spurs. Although he is still under contract until 2026, advanced talks with LAFC suggest his final match could come during Spurs’ pre-season tour in Seoul.

Leading Tottenham to a long-awaited trophy in May, Son captained the team to Europa League glory over Manchester United. It was Spurs’ first piece of silverware in 17 years, a feat that gave Son a sense of completion. “It felt like I had achieved everything I possibly could,” he admitted during a press conference held alongside new manager Thomas Frank.

Frank, who replaced Ange Postecoglou in June, didn’t hold back his admiration. He praised Son as “a true Spurs legend” and “one of the Premier League’s greatest players.” If Sunday’s game against Newcastle in Seoul becomes Son’s final appearance, the moment would be even more poetic for the homegrown hero.

Throughout his time in England, Son forged a legendary attacking partnership with Harry Kane. Together, they produced a record 47 goal combinations in the Premier League, with Son often finishing Kane’s assists in lethal fashion. Their chemistry reached its peak during the 2020-21 and 2021-22  seasons, contributing 21 goal link-ups in that stretch alone.

In 2022, Son made history as the first Asian player to win the Premier League Golden Boot, sharing the title with Mohamed Salah. The following season, he became the first from the continent to reach 100 Premier League goals – a landmark achievement that cemented his legacy.

With 101 assists across all competitions and 71 in the league, he exits as Tottenham’s top assist provider in Premier League history and sixth all-time in appearances.
