The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has imposed a ₦2.5 million fine on Osun Babes for breaching multiple regulatory articles, including a jersey violation and failing to fulfill a league fixture against FC Robo Queens.
The disciplinary committee found Osun Babes guilty of contravening Articles 10.3, 10.5, and 14.7 of the NWFL Regulatory Framework following a formal review of the abandoned fixture. The club’s failure to honour the match constitutes a serious breach of league rules.
FC Robo Queens has been awarded a walkover victory, receiving three points and three goals in the league standings as compensation for the unplayed fixture. The decision maintains the integrity of the competition’s structure.
The specific jersey violation relates to improper kit presentation during the affected period, though league officials have not detailed whether the issue involved sponsorship, numbering, or regulatory non-compliance. Article 10.3 governs player and team equipment standards.
The breach
Article 10.5 addresses the fulfilment of fixtures and the consequences of non-appearance, while Article 14.7 covers general disciplinary provisions within the NWFL’s regulatory framework. Osun Babes now faces a financial penalty.
The match, scheduled for an undisclosed date, would have seen Osun Babes host FC Robo Queens at their home ground. The Lagos-based visitors prepared for travel and match arrangements that ultimately proved unnecessary.

FC Robo Queens, meanwhile, accepts the three points that strengthen their position in the league table without kicking a ball. The walkover could prove crucial in the title race or relegation battle, depending on season progression.
This sanction shows that the league will not tolerate breaches affecting competition fairness. Clubs must meet their obligations or face financial consequences designed to protect the league’s integrity.
